What We Believe
There is One God — He has revealed Himself to mankind through the Bible.
- The One God reveals Himself in Three Persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, who function in complete and perfect Oneness.
- We believe the Bible is the full and complete Word of God (Timothy 3:16-17), and is able to make us wise unto salvation. It is not simply to be taught or heard, but obeyed in all of life.
- We believe the two greatest commandments, as summarize by Jesus in Matthew 22:36-40 are:
- To love God with all your heart, soul and mind. To love your neighbor as yourself.
We believe that Salvation is by Grace through Faith. Our Salvation was purchased completely and freely by Jesus Christ on the Cross. In response to His amazing grace, we must individually:
- Hear God’s Word and Call (Romans 10:17)
- Sincerely acknowledge our sinful and lost condition (Romans 3:23)
- Call upon the Name of the Lord for mercy (Romans 10:13)
- Personally believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He died on the cross for the sins of all mankind
(Romans 10:9-10; Romans 5:6-8), and that He rose back to life on the third day. - Repent and turn away from sin (Acts 2:38)
- Confess our sins and our faith in Jesus Christ (1 John 1:9; Romans 10:10)
- Be baptized in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for the remission of our sins (Acts 2:38)6.
We believe the Christian life is to be a life of devotion, love, and service to God.
For each of us, this means:
A close and personal relationship with God in Christ.
A deep sense of our personal value to God (knowing He is working in me).
A willingness to share the Gospel with others.
A deep, life-long commitment to marriage and family.
Loving one another in Christ — which involves bearing one another’s burdens.
Being honest and dependable in everything I do.
Working diligently to provide not only for my own family’s needs, but also to share with those in need.
A deep sense of our personal value to God (knowing He is working in me).
A willingness to share the Gospel with others.
A deep, life-long commitment to marriage and family.
Loving one another in Christ — which involves bearing one another’s burdens.
Being honest and dependable in everything I do.
Working diligently to provide not only for my own family’s needs, but also to share with those in need.
Doing good works of service in the church congregation and in the community.
Our hope is to help bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth, and to go to Heaven one day.
Baptism
Our salvation rests upon the fact that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, that He was buried, and that on the third day, He was raised from the dead (1 Corinthians 15: 1-4). Baptism is a personal re-enactment of the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Christ. We are united with Christ in Baptism: (Romans 6:3-5)
We believe that everyone needs to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, believe it, then repent and be baptized into Christ for the remission of their sins, in order to be saved (Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16; Matthew 28:19-20).
Baptism is immersion in water: (Romans 6:3-5). It is a burial in water.Baptism is a personal act of obedient faith — therefore we do not practice infant baptism. Baptism is one of the clear commandments of Jesus – a necessary act of faith. Jesus, Himself, was baptized (Matthew 3: 13-15), not because He had sins, but to show us all how to fulfill righteousness.
What to Expect When You Visit
When you visit us on Sunday morning you can expect to be welcomed at the doors & be given a bulletin full of Lakeview news.
We begin Sunday morning with Bible classes for all ages, after a short break we begin our morning worship service.
We have a cappella singing, weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper, prayer, an opportunity to give to help in various works, a sermon from God’s word, and a few comments and prayer from one of our Shepherds. We welcome you to stay and visit with us. We look forward to seeing you!
